This project was a collaborative rebrand. Artist/Photographer Abigail Hadeed hired me to rebrand her studio. There were some rules: We had to keep the original colour palette as it had already been incorporated in the decor and wall paint of the physical space and we had to include the tagline for the space: Make Something.
I say "we" because I collaborated with Zarna Hart, a brilliant multidisciplinary designer, to make this rebrand a success.
Abigail was also adamant about wanting a symbol, an icon in her logo. Splice Studios is a multi-purpose space with a studio, co-working space, rooftop, apartment and meeting room for creatives but the root of the name is film. To splice is to cut and join film in the editing process so the icon is meant to pay homage to that as 3 strips of film forming the S, the 3 pieces also representing the 3 levels of the building.

Zarna and I had fun figuring out how to incorporate all of these elements and requests into the overall brand. Our deliverables included the visual identity system incorporating icon, wordmark, tagline as well as stationery, signage, web design consultation, and social media package details roll out.
